A band of crosses is worked on the yoke and along the bottom of the sleeves and the body. First, the top part of the back yoke is worked back and forth, then each shoulder is worked back and forth on a circular needle. Both shoulders are then joined to form the front yoke. The front and back yoke are joined at the underarms to form the body, which is worked in the round on a circular needle. The sleeves are worked down from stitches that are picked up and knitted around the armholes. If the intended wearer of the sweater measures 62 cm [24½ inches] around the chest, for example, you should knit a size 6-7 years. A sweater in size 6-7 years has a chest circumference of 88 cm [34¾ inches] which in the given example would you 26 cm [10¼ inches] of positive ease. If the measured chest circumference deviates from the age guide, you can adjust the length to fit the intended wearer. The same applies if the intended wearer is shorter or taller than average.
